1825 Journey. On Saturday morning (3 Dec) arrived from London and Dublin, the ship Henry Porcher, Captain John Thompson, with 175 male prisoners, having lost one man - the rest in good health. She sailed from London the 10th of July, and Dublin the 5th of August. The guard comprises a detachment of the 47th Regiment, under the orders of Captain Donaldson. The Surgeon Superintendent is Dr. CARTER, R. N. Sydney Gazette, 5 Dec 1825.

George Wines b. abt 1803 Somersetshire. Tried and convicted for Bigamy, Somerset, 04/01/1836. Prosecutor - James Grey, overseer of Parish. 7r sentence. Transported to Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) on the 'Henry Porcher' 1836. Gaol Report: good, well behaved. Hulk Report: good Ship surgeon's Report: very good Protestant, read & write; blue eyes; limeburner; 33yrs of age; 5'5 1/2"; married; ruddy complexion; lt brown hair. 1st Wife: Priscilla, at native place - Finsbury. 3,4 or 5 children. 2nd Wife: (Bigamous) Anna, at Shropshire. ? 1 child. 3rd Wife: (Transported convicts were permitted to remarry, in the Colony!) Elizabeth Barnes (transported on the 'Rajah') 16/07/1844 at St. Matthews Anglican Church, New Norfolk. (ref. 1290/1844). SECOND CONVICTION - IN COLONY, VDL. (separate record) 11/10/1847 New Norfolk - stealing bran & chaff. 12mths imprisonment and hard labour. Station Gang: Jericho, VDL. Occupation listed as a postman.
