He was tried for breaking entering stealing leather of J (Creasy) of Tonbridge at Kent Assizes about March 1817, sentenced to death reprieved to 14years, held at Maidstone Gaol &, from April 1817, on Hulks at Shearness & arrived in NSW as a convict on 22 11 1817 after a voyage of 4months on LARKINS. He was living at Wilberforce when he married Mary Ann/Fanny Jane (Lisson her second marriage) of Wilberforce on 6 12 1825 at St Matthews CofE Windsor. He was recorded in 1826 at Wilberforce & in 1828 as a carpenter. He died on 1 6 1841 age about39. Some information taken from this Website] Mary Jane (Lisson) was born in 1805. Kent Assizes. J. Winton, for entering the dwelling-house of J. Creasy, at Tonbridge, and stealing a quantity of leather, of the value of ten pounds.— Death, Reprieved. Kentish Weekly Post, 25 March 1817. -------------------------------------------------- Canterbury April 29. Convicts.—Early on Tuesday morning were removed under removed under strong guard from his Majesty's gaol, at Maidstone, the following male convicts, to be put on board the Hulks, at Sheerness, viz.—Michael Corfey, James Bryan, James Pocock, Thomas Ramsey, John Turner, Turner, John Giddins, Thomas Scott, Daniel Broduon, William Butcher, and Edward Chambers. Likewise, on Saturday morning James Winton, Jacob Coley, George Coley, Thomas King, John Solomon, Edward Coleman, Wm. Coley, James Potter. Elias Greenway, James Jorden John Norton, John Rennie and H.
