29/2/1840 Windsor and Eton Express Berkshire, England: BERKS LENT ASSIZES Chas. Wise, aged 22, for stealing from the dwelling-house of Mary Appleby at Wargrave, a box containing valuable papers, eight sovereigns, and other articles, was convicted and sentenced to twelve years' transportation. Charles Wise was listed as 23 years old on arrival in VDL - Native Place: Wargrave, Berkshire. Parents: John Wise, a grocer, and Hannah. Brothers: George, John. Sisters: Ann, Mary, Sarah. Charles was 5'6½" tall, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, mole and scar inside right arm, small mole on left arm, single, literate. 10/11/1846: CP 4/2/1847: Married Sarah Taylor (Rajah 1841) at St John's Anglican Church, Launceston. Sarah aged 30, prisoners, single, illiterate - Charles was 30, prisoner, constable. No children listed. 12/1/1852: Departed Launceston to Melbourne per 'Pearl' - Status: CP It seems that Sarah stayed in VDL and had at least 2 children with different men. No marriages listed.
