She was tried for theft in Thornbury Gloucestershire at Glocester Assizes in July 1795, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 30 4 1796 after a voyage of 7months on INDISPENSIBLE; she was sent to Norfolk Island arriving on 1 10 1796. She had another relationship with John (Roberts). She was Free by Servitude by 1801. She is recorded as convict off stores in February 1805 on Norfolk Island. She left Norfolk Island with her family in April 1810. She was described in 1814 as on stores wife of veteran & 8children, possibly in Sydney. He was recorded as John (Robberts) in 1828 as pensioner with his family at Pitt St Sydney. [Noted a John (Roberts-came free BRITANNIA) is recorded as dying in 1821 age59-giving some doubt about the identities of this family] [a John (Roberts) is recorded (Ref:'Colonial Regiment...') as enlisting as private in NSW Corps on 10 6 1789 in UK. He is recorded as arriving in Australia in June 1790-no ships carrying convicts are recorded as arriving in June 1790-the 2ships BRITANNIA & ADMIRAL BARRINGTON arrived in the same Fleet recorded as 9 7 1791-it is reasonable to accept that this soldier arrived on BRITANNIA & then was taken to Norfolk Island on ADMIRAL BARRINGTON-indicating the 3references here to be of the same man-other clues to support this are also here. In 1798 he was detached to (Townson)s company. In 1800 he was detached to (Paterson)s company with whom he seems to have travelled to Norfolk Island & then been detached to (Foveaux)s company-he is located on Norfolk Island from 1801 to 1808. It could be he who is recorded as a private with NSW Corps in February 1805 on Norfolk Island. He stayed with (Foveaux)s company until 1808 when he was detached to (Lamb)s company. In 1809 he was detached to (McArthur)s company then 8Company. 27/7/1795 Gloucester Journal Gloucestershire, England: On Saturday the Assizes for this county were concluded, when John Spencer, for stealing goods from a shopkeeper at Northleach ; Sarah Wisse, for thefts committed at Thornbury; Edward Clarke, Mary Clarke, and Honour Oliver, gypsies, for stealing a tilt-cloth from a farmer at Nauntons ; Ann Thompson, for stealing goods from different persons in this city, and Richard Rowland, for stealing a bag ; were sentenced to seven years' transportation.

Several of the elders are married and with their own families and a couple have died in infancy. Don't you love the way Sarah has become a free immigrant instead of a transported convict?

In the colony, Sarah married John Roberts (NSW Corps, Britannia, 1792) in about 1796. They had 11 children between 1797 and 1815.
