She was tried for theft in Thornbury Gloucestershire at Glocester Assizes in July 1795, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 30 4 1796 after a voyage of 7months on INDISPENSIBLE; she was sent to Norfolk Island arriving on 1 10 1796. She had another relationship with John (Roberts). She was Free by Servitude by 1801. She is recorded as convict off stores in February 1805 on Norfolk Island. She left Norfolk Island with her family in April 1810. She was described in 1814 as on stores wife of veteran & 8children, possibly in Sydney. She was recorded as Sarah (Robberts) in 1828 with her family at Pitt St Sydney. She died on 10 9 1850 age81. [Some details taken from this Website] [In Ref:'People...' John (Roberts) was born about 1762-age from death record-or 1778-age from 1828census. He arrived in NSW as a soldier on 9 7 1791 (Smees records) after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship BRITANNIA; & (John (Roberts ADMIRAL BARRINGTON (same Fleet) Ref:'People...') was sent to Norfolk Island, arriving on 4 11 1791. He left Norfolk Island with his family in April 1810. He was described in 1813 with NSW Corps & in 1814 with wife & 8children, possibly in Sydney. He was recorded as John (Robberts) in 1828 as pensioner with his family at Pitt St Sydney. [Noted a John (Roberts-came free BRITANNIA) is recorded as dying in 1821 age59-giving some doubt about the identities of this family] [a John (Roberts) is recorded (Ref:'Colonial Regiment...') as enlisting as private in NSW Corps on 10 6 1789 in UK. He is recorded as arriving in Australia in June 1790-no ships carrying convicts are recorded as arriving in June 1790-the 2ships BRITANNIA & ADMIRAL BARRINGTON arrived in the same Fleet recorded as 9 7 1791-it is reasonable to accept that this soldier arrived on BRITANNIA & then was taken to Norfolk Island on ADMIRAL BARRINGTON-indicating the 3references here to be of the same man-other clues to support this are also here. In 1798 he was detached to (Townson)s company. In 1800 he was detached to (Paterson)s company with whom he seems to have travelled to Norfolk Island & then been detached to (Foveaux)s company-he is located on Norfolk Island from 1801 to 1808. It could be he who is recorded as a private with NSW Corps in February 1805 on Norfolk Island. He stayed with (Foveaux)s company until 1808 when he was detached to (Lamb)s company. In 1809 he was detached to (McArthur)s company then 8Company. He was transferred to Veterans company on 24 4 1810.] [Noted another John (Roberts) is recorded in Ref:'People...' who arrivid on Norfolk Island on 4 11 1791 with NSW Corps-no other information. From Ref:'Forgotten...' we learn he was discharged as marine in Sydney in October 1791 & sent to Norfolk Island with NSW Corps on 26 10 1791. She is recorded as child >2years on stores in February 1805 on Norfolk Island. She left Norfolk Island with her parents in April 1810. Noted a John (Roberts) married Sarah (Jones/Jibber) on 17 7 1803 at St Phillips CofE Sydney-or recorded there. Sarah (Jobber/Jones) was born about 1773. She was tried for theft w/2others, on 7 4 1801, of watch etc of Thomas (Robjent) at Old Bailey on 15 4 1801 (quick justice), sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 3 1803 after a voyage of 6.5months on HMS GLATTON. She was issued her Certificate of Freedom on 9 1 1810. She left Norfolk Island with her parents in April 1810. She was baptised on 13 10 1811 age5 w/George, James at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She was described in 1814 as on stores with her parents, possibly in Sydney. She married Thomas (Flood) on 24 12 1827 at St James CofE Sydney & produced at least 1child. She died in 1883 age about77. ..Thomas (Flood) was born in 1802. He is recorded in 1805/6 with his parents. He is recorded in 1828 as a tailor. Noted a John (Roberts) arrived in Australia with his parents (John (Roberts) above?) on 26 9 1791 on ACTIVE-confusing date but same Fleet. He was born in Hereford & had enlisted in NSW Corps on 4 3 1791-in UK; he was 5.33'. He was detached to (Townson)s company as a drummer. He became a private on 25 5 1800, remaining with (Townson)s company. He was detached to (Paterson)s company in 1804 & moved to Port Dalrymple Tasmania. He was discharged on 21 1 1806-claimed by a Civil Power (Police?) & became a convict. 27/7/1795 Gloucester Journal Gloucestershire, England: On Saturday the Assizes for this county were concluded, when John Spencer, for stealing goods from a shopkeeper at Northleach ; Sarah Wisse, for thefts committed at Thornbury; Edward Clarke, Mary Clarke, and Honour Oliver, gypsies, for stealing a tilt-cloth from a farmer at Nauntons ; Ann Thompson, for stealing goods from different persons in this city, and Richard Rowland, for stealing a bag ; were sentenced to seven years' transportation.

[Ref R1024] Robberts, George, 19, born in colony. [Ref R1025] Robberts, James, 17, born in colony. [Ref R1026] Robberts, William, 15, born in colony. [Ref R1027] Robberts, Catherine, 13, born in colony. these are the four youngest of the 11 children born to the couple. Several of the elders are married and with their own families and a couple have died in infancy. Don't you love the way Sarah has become a free immigrant instead of a transported convict?

In the colony, Sarah married John Roberts (NSW Corps, Britannia, 1792) in about 1796. They had 11 children between 1797 and 1815.
