George Wolfe was born in Brandon Warwickshire




George Wolfe was convicted at Warwick on 28/03/1844 for stealing silk. 15yr sentence. 3rd conviction. Transported to Van Diemens Land. Ship surgeon's report: good Protestant; single; farm labourer and then a tailor for 2yrs; 5'4"; 19yrs; ruddy complexion, freckled; grey eyes; dk brown hair; read & write. Native Place: Branlin, W. Coventry. Parents: Solomon Wolfe & Catherine Maloney. Station Gang: St. Mary's Vale, 2yrs. Emerged 06/09/1846. some records of minor misconduct Assignments at: St. Mary's Vale, Fingal, Broadmarsh, Ross, Campbell Town. 28/10/1851: Ticket of Leave 13/12/1853: Conditional Pardon Married Ann Tully (from Belfast) - transported on the 'Australasia' 1849 - at Campbell Town 1855. Family settled at Hamilton-on-Forth (now called Forth). Note on record that he was again convicted of Larceny and given 3mths hard labour. Son George Wolfe b. 1857.
