Convict Notes
Staffordshire Michaelmas Sessions. James Hassall and James Woolf were charged with stealing a piece of cheese, the property of Ralph Baker, at Lane-End. The theft was fully proved. It was given in evidence that Hassall took the cheese off the prosecutor's stall, and gave it to Woolf; and on returning from the Magistrates the prisoners told the constable the witnesses had said nothing but what was true. Guilty. Hassall had been convicted of felony in March, 1832. Woolf had been in prison twice before. Both prisoners to be transported for seven years.
