Family connections for Ezekiel (Wood) are: WOOD Ezekiel (Wood) was born about 1792 at Stafford Staffordshire & became a draper. He was tried for larceny at Lincoln Assizes Lincolnshire on 31 7 1813, sentenced to death commuted to Life, held on hulk PERSEUS from 2 6 1814 & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 4 1815 after a voyage of 6months on INDEFATIGIBLE; he was 5'9.5" sallow complexion black hair dark eyes. He was sent to Parramatta. In 1816 he was working as assistant clerk at the Police Office. He was issued his Conditional Pardon on 4 6 1818. He was a dealer when he married firstly Ann (Robinson her first marriage) on 3 5 1819 at St Phillips CofE Sydney.>>>In 1822 he is recorded Free by Servitude with his family as licenced victualler. He is recorded in 1825 as publican with his family. He was living at Phillip St Sydney when he died on 23/5 11 1826 age34/5 & was buried at Devonshire St Cemetery St Phillips CofE Sydney where his inlaws & wifes second husband are also interred; he was transferred to Bunnerong Botany cemetery Matraville in 1901. [Some details taken from this Website; & another Ezekiel (Wood) found in Tasmania about the same time] Ann (Robinson) was born on 6 4 1798 & baptised on 7 8 1798 w/Harriet at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She married secondly Henry (Marr merchant his second marriage) emancipist on 24 11 1827 at St Phillips CofE Sydney & produced at least 3children. She is recorded in 1828 with her husband at Castlereagh St Sydney. She died on 30 9 1848 age50 mother of at least 7children-mainly girls. Details of Ann (Robinson)s family are given in entry for Edward (Robinson ADMIRAL BARRINGTON 1791) on this Website. Ezekiel (Wood) & Ann (Robinson) produced 4children: mostly girls 1.Sarah (Wood) was born about 1819. She is recorded in 1825 with her parents. 2.Elizabeth (Wood) was born on 17 8 1820 & baptised on 10 9 1820 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She is recorded in 1822 & 1825 with her parents. She died on 7 9 1861 age40. 3.William (Wood) was born about 1821. He is recorded in 1825 with his parents. 4.Mary Ann (Wood) was born on 20 8 1822 & baptised on 5 1 1823 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She is recorded in 1825 with her parents. [Noted another Ezekiel (Wood) was born about 1792 at Leek Staffordshire & became a labourer. He was tried at Newcastle Northumberland Assizes on 14 8 1814, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW on 18 1 1816 after a voyage of 5months on FANNY. On 25 1 1816 he was sent to Derwent Tasmania on EMU. On 17 5 1816 he was charged with neglect of duty & sentenced to 4months labour with G Gang. He was Free on 25 8 1821. Ezekiel Wood was convicted at Lincoln Assizes on 31 July 1813 and sentenced to death for larceny above 40 shillings in a dwelling house. His sentence was commuted to transportation for life. He was received on the Perseus hulk on 2 June 1814. He was transported on the Indefatigable which departed in October 1814, and arrived New South Wales on 26 April 1815. The convict indent for this ship has the following information: He was born at Stafford, occupation draper, age 26, height 5 feet 9½ inches, with a sallow complexion, black hair and dark eyes. He had been tried at the Assizes at Lincoln on 31 July 1813 and sentenced to life. After arrival, he was forwarded to Parramatta for distribution. In 1816 he was working as Assistant Clerk at the Police Office and was being paid from the Police Fund. He received a Conditional Pardon on 4 June 1818. Marriage: on 3 May 1819 at St Phillips Church of England in Sydney, Ann Robinson age 20, spinster, resident of Sydney, married Ezekiel Wood, age 28 years, bachelor, dealer, resident of Sydney, by Banns by William Cowper. Both Ann and Ezekiel signed the register. Witnesses were John Gandell and Sarah Gandell. In December 1820 he was Foreman of a jury at an inquest on James Wilson held at Sydney. In the 1822 muster Ezekiel Wood was listed in Sydney, conditional pardon, licenced victualler, with wife Ann Wood, born in the colony, and their daughter Elizabeth age 2. In the 1825 muster Ezekiel Wood was listed as a publican in Sydney, with wife Ann and four children Sarah 6, William 4, Elizabeth 5, Mary Ann 3.Death: 23 November 23, 1826. He was buried on 25 November 1826 and his burial was registered by Reverend Richard Hill at St James Church Sydney. The register recorded: aged 34, publican, residence Phillip Street. He was buried in the Devonshire Street Cemetery. His grave was transferred to Bunnerong (Botany cemetery at Matraville) in 1901. His grave had the inscription: Edward ROBINSON died 5th June 1820 aged 67 years also Ezekiel WOOD son-in-law of the above died 23rd November 1826 aged 34 years leaving a widow and infant dau. also Mrs Mary ROBINSON died 24th Feb 1810 aged 37 years. also Henry MARR Esq. died 31st August 1835 aged 65 years leaving a wife and large family
