Family connections for John (Wood) are: Some amendments made Dec 2025. WOOD John (Wood) was tried at Yorkshire West Riding Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship ALBERMARLE. He associated with Ann (Matthews). He was Free by Servitude by 1798. [Some details taken from this website: where 6John (Wood)s are shown in this Fleet.] Ann (Matthews), third child of 7 born to Matthew (Matthews born 1730) & Ann (Smith born 1735), was born on 11 4 1762 at Enfield London. She was tried for breaking entering & stealing, on 7 10 1791, table spoons etc of John Lewis (Andre) at Old Bailey on 17/26 10 1791, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & hulks & arrived in NSW as a convict on 18 11 1792 after a voyage of 11months on KITTY; she was 5'4" fair complexion-pockmarked light brown hair. She was Free by Servitude by 1809. She died on 24 12 1819 age57 & was buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She married Peter (Hough) baker on 18 9 1809 at St Phillips CofE Sydney & produced 8children. She died on 31 5 1880 age72. ..Peter (Huff/Hough) was born in 1778 in Paris France & became a baker. In London he worked as a waiter at St Pauls Coffee House. He was tried for petty larceny stealing money from St Pauls Coffee House at Old Bailey Middlesex on 16 9 1795 & acquitted. He was tried again for stealing with force of arms a pocket book at Old Bailey Middlesex Sessions of Peace on 17 2 1797, sentenced to 7years, held probably at London/Middlesex Gaol Delivery & at Newgate Prison & 2.5months on PRUDENTIA hulk at Woolwich & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 7 1799 after a voyage of 9months on HILSBOROUGH; he was 5'4" fair complexion brown hair grey eyes. He is recorded in July 1801 as in his first (1of3) relationship with Susannah (Tillett her first relationship) at Parramatta. He is recorded in 1805 in his second (2of3) relationship with Catherine (Rigby). He was Free by Servitude by 1809 & on 19 9 1809 was working as a baker in Sydney. He was issued his Certificate of Freedom on 6 2 1811 for Sydney. He is recorded on 18 7 1812 as donating to schoolhouse at Richmond. On 14 9 1816 he is recorded somewhat differently as 51.5" ruddy complexion black hair hazel eyes. He was granted 50acres at Richmond Bottoms. He was a publican near Tollgates Sydney Rd Parramatta. He was accused on 4 11 1826 for assault & battery w/1other & stealing horse & cart at Sydney Court House which was not proceeded with. In 1828 he was recorded at Richmond.
