Michael WOOD was convicted at Lancaster, England on 9 April 1834 for stealing a watch. 7 yr transportation sentence. Gaol Report: "bad character". Hulk Report: "orderly". Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'William Metcalf' arriving there 4 Sept 1834. Ship Surgeon's report: "orderly". Single man; aged 23yrs; a labourer; 5'8 1/4" height. VDL: Assigned to work in the Colony. Pass Holder status approved. Free Certificate No. 432 in 1841.
