Convict Notes
Colonial Secretary's Office, Sydney, 14th July, 1835. HIS EXCELLENCY the GOVERNOR has directed it to be notified, that the Right Honorable the Secretary of State for the Colonies has signified, Despatch dated 28th December, 1834, No. 16, His Majesty's gracious approbation and allowance of the Absolute and Conditional Pardons granted to the undermentioned individuals, namely :— ABSOLUTE PARDONS, Dated 10 July, 1834. In the colony. Sarah had a de-facto relationship with Benjamin Crew (Came Free, 1803, "Bridgewater"). Benjamin had come to the colony, initially to administer the estate of his late brother William Crew (AKA Williams) (Third Fleet Convict, 1791, "Albermarle"). He and Sarah had 2 children; Sarah 1806-1806, and Mary-Ann 1807-1859. From about 1810, Sarah was in a relationship with Thomas Galvin (Convict, 1792, "Royal Admiral"), the couple married at Parramatta on 2nd October 1815. Thomas Galvin free age 37 of the district of Airds and Sarah Wood of ditto were married in this church by banns this second day of October 1815 by me Samuel Marsden. Thomas signed the register and Sarah made her X mark in the presence of Richard Jones who signed the register and Ann Williams who made her X mark in the register.
Sarah was Convicted at Worcester Assizes for a term of life on 06 March 1801. Oxford Journal Sat 14 Mar 1801 p.3..... At Worcester Assizes...Sarah Wood for stealing two 10/-. bills... convicted and received sentence of death...reprieved...transportation for life.
