On Saturday last, William Godden, Joseph Smith, otherwise Joseph Woodcock, and Susan Smith, were committed to St. Augustine's gaol, charged on the oath of Stepben Chandler, Wm. Mears, and others with having feloniously taken, stolen, and carried away, two sheep, the property of Sir Brook Wm, Bridges, bart, in the parish of Goodnestone, next Wingham. Kentish Weekly Post, 25 Mar 1817. Wm. Godden, Joseph Smith, alias Woodcock, and Susan Smith, for stealing two sheep, at Goodnestone, the property of Sir B. W.
