Suffolk Assizes. … James Woodgate, for stealing a grey mare pony, the property of John Newby, of Wenhaston ; and Geo. Woodgate, Stephen Baldry, Thos. Barnaby Benjamin Hazelop, and Israel Woodgate, for breaking into the dwellinghouse of Stephen Capon, of Hinton, and stealing six sacks of white clover seed, with the sacks; were all capitally convicted, and sentence of death recorded. Cambridge Chronicle, 13 Aug 1824.

George was the cousin of James and Israel Woodgate and they were all indicted and sentenced to death. All arrived per Norfolk. George was the son of Richard Woodgate and Rachel Wright. 1831: TOL Bathurst 1832: George and cousin James were granted permission to drive a cart from Bathurst to Sydney but not to remain in Sydney overnight. When they were released they set up a haulage business between Bathurst and Sydney. 13/8/1839: COF George "married" Ellen/Eleanor and they had some children together although there is no marriage listed in the BDM. 1883: George died at Wingham. 1884: Ellen married Benjamin Saville in Wingham. Benjamin died in 1900 in Taree and Ellen died in 1912 also in Taree.
