On Wednesday four were capitally convicted, and received sentence of death, of death, viz. William Baker, and Richard Baker, for burglary in the dwelling-house of Richard West, of Sydenham. And Thomas Howard and John Woodgate, for stealing two ponies on Wadhurst-Common, the property of persons unknown.— Sussex Advertiser, 20 March 1815. Early Thursday were removed under strong guard from his Majesty’s gaol, at Maidstone, and put hoard the Retribution Hulk, Sheerness, for transportation, 25 male convicts, viz. Richard Raker, Thomas Howard, John Woodgate, Richard Dennis, Thomas Martin, Stanton Pettitt, Thomas Jennings, and Thomas Osborne, life. John Steward, Charles Dehamel, George Claris and Edward Aldridge, for fourteen years, James Flowers, James Chalton, Thomas Murphy, John Bones, John Hawkley, James Marchant, George Marchant, John Hales, Robert Banks, William Rowland, John Brown, Owen Sullivan, and James Bekin.
