The Wreck of the George III https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/4180709?searchTerm=John woodhall John was one of the survivors of the wreck. An extract from the above article, which was published 24 April 1835, in the Hobart Town Courier: The total number saved amounts to 161, 81 of whom are convicts, and a nominal return of them is transmitted herewith. The total number of persons originally embarked was 308, 2 children were born during the voyage, one woman, three children and 12 prisoners died, leaving at the time the ship struck, 294 souls, from which statement it will be seen that 133 souls had perished on this awful occasion. Of this number 127 were convicts, 58 of whom were on the sick list in their berths, and 50 out of them totally unable to help themselves and several were washed overboard during the night.

I'm pretty sure I wrote the original post with the incorrect information in it. After reviewing information provided to me by another researcher, I agree that I got it wrong. My most recent research agrees with Martin, John Woodhall could be the son of John Woodhall and Sarah Cartwright (Cartright). I have a DOB of 29 Dec 1810 in Threapwood, Wales (now England). I have a discrepancy with his baptism though.

My previous note of ship Surry is incorrect - this was for a John Woodhall convicted at Stafford. However my comments on John Woodhall's parents and his marriage are correct. The other person has provided the wrong information. Maybe they are confused as to which John Woodhall this is.

The convict muster list for 1837 says that John Woodhall arrived on the ship Surry, not George the Third. He was baptised on 3 February 1811 in Worthenbury Flintshire, the son of John & Sarah Woodhall. He married Amelia Hedsman in Hobart on 14 October 1843.
John Woodhall was indictged for steal 102 yards of muslin, 5l.7s and 4 veils 15s., the goods of Joseph Penrice. He was the son of Benjamin Woodhall and Ann Stevens. He was 24 on arrival, single 5'2" tall, fresh complexion, dark brown hair and eyes, crucifix and bird inside left arm. Man and woman inside right arm. He married Amelia Hedsman per 'Atwick' on 14/10/1843. John died at Bathurst Street, Hobart in 1874, his occupation was a ship builder.
