There is an archived newspaper article available from “The Sydney Herald” 6 November 1840 that reports on the trial of George Woodman’s murderer. It says the murder occurred on September 7 at the public house “Travellers Home” near Gunderoo, which George was landlord of.




Approval for marriage granted June 30 1840 when George Woodman was 24. Register of Convict Application to Marry.




Convicted for stealing plate. reference 'List of Male Convicts by the ship Aurora'. Interestingly trade or calling is as a Violin player (indifferent)aged 17. Married Jane Wilson nee Getty 26 August 1840 at Gundaroo by Rev. Edward Smith (Church of England). Died June 1841 after being shot near Woodman's Inn, Gundaroo.
