Thomas Woods has been committed to Ipswich Gaol for stealing 7s. in money from Thomas Elmer, of Mendlesham; Bury and Norwich Post, 22 July 1801. Suffolk Assizes. Thomas Woods, the pickpocket, who received sentence of transportation, was a well-dressed middle aged man, and belonged to a gang who occasionally make excursions from the metropolis to country fairs, to carry into effect their predatory practices; he was accompanied by two confederates, who, on his apprehension, went to the inn, and took away the horse upon which he had travelled into Suffolk, and then decamped.
