Thomas Woods has been committed to Ipswich Gaol for stealing 7s. in money from Thomas Elmer, of Mendlesham; Bury and Norwich Post, 22 July 1801. Suffolk Assizes. Thomas Woods, the pickpocket, who received sentence of transportation, was a well-dressed middle aged man, and belonged to a gang who occasionally make excursions from the metropolis to country fairs, to carry into effect their predatory practices; he was accompanied by two confederates, who, on his apprehension, went to the inn, and took away the horse upon which he had travelled into Suffolk, and then decamped. Bury and Norwich Post, 29 July 1801.
