He was tried for grand larceny stealing, on 5 12 1789, canvas cover etc at Old Bailey on 9 12 1789 (quick justice), sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Westminster Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship ACTIVE. He arrived on Norfolk Island in 1801. He is recorded as Free by Servitude by 1806 & working as a blacksmith. He was an emancipist blacksmith when he married secondly Grace (Maddocks/Maddox her second marriage) emancipist on 25 6 1810 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. He is recorded as a butcher in 1822. She was sent to Norfolk Island in August 1790 (recorded as arriving on 7 8 1790 & July 1791). She had a first relationship with John (Best his first (1of3) relationship). She was returned to Sydney in September 1804 (recorded as leaving on 21 9 1809/04). She died on 30 6 1823 age61 with no known children.
