John James Woodward was 21 years old when convicted at the Old Bailey for ‘stealing a pair of trousers’. Son of Francis. 1836: TOL 15/7/1842: COF Formed a business partnership in Goulburn with another transportee, Joseph Bull (Adamant 1821). They operated the Commercial Stores, later John Woodward built and operated the Commercial Hotel, Joseph Bull went on to own the Colonial Villa “St Clair”, in Sloane Street Goulburn, now home to the Goulburn District Historical Society. Both ended up being wealthy men. John James Woodward married Christina ??? (No registration on NSW BDM) 7/9/1861 Goulburn Herald: DIED,AT his residence, Goulburn, yesterday, the 6th instant, Mr. JOHN JAMES WOODWARD, aged 51 years. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 1861.
