HORSE-STEALING AT KETTLETHORPE. Thomas Woolhouse, alias John Hunt, aged 26, late of Fenton, in the parish of Kettlethorpe, labourer, was found guilty of stealing a mare, the property of Mr. Jonathan Scott, of Kettlethorpe, on the 6th of October last.—The mare was seen in the prosecutor’s close at 6 in the evening of the 7th, and the next morning at 9 the prisoner was at Boston with her, where he sold her to a Mr. John Liddell for £4.10s. He was apprehended at Friskney on the 15th. of October, and committed to Boston gaol whence he escaped, and was retaken at Lynn, when he said ¢ he was glad he was retaken; he had never been happy since he did it; and if he got over it, he would never rob anybody again.—Judgment of death recorded. Drakard’s Stamford News, 17 March 1826.
