Morning Chronicle London, England 17 Apr 1824 LENT ASSIZES.—CHESTER, WEDNESDAY GEO. WOOLLEY and THOS. BATES were charged with having burglariously entered the house of Wm. Sotheran, of Weaverham, on the night of the 5th of December, and stolen therefrom a sovereign, a guinea, fifty shillings in silver, and 5l. in copper. Thomas Bates was also onboard. ________________ George Woolley was listed as 22 years old on arrival. Place of Birth: Northwich, Cheshire. mother at ### - lived last at Stopforth with a woman who spun cotton in a factory, she kept me. George was single, 5'9" tall, brown hair, grey eyes, 3 Moles in front of neck Sportsmans dog & 2 birds on breast Ship Mermaid & Woman rt arm Elephant & Castle on elbow Joint left arm Leopard and other Marks same arm. Colonial conviction: April 10, 1829 - tried at Hobart - to be hanged;commuted to 7 years transportation. The Hobart Town Courier (Tas. : 1827 - 1839) Saturday 14 March 1829 p 2 Thomas Simson and George Woolley the bushrangers were arranged at the bar, but refused in the most obstinate manner to plead either guilty or not guilty, and were remanded to gaol. The Hobart Town Courier (Tas. : 1827 - 1839) Saturday 18 April 1829 p 1 Thomas Simson and George Woolley were convicted of stealing a quantity of property in the dwelling home of Samuel Roe Hill, and putting the said Samuel Roe Hill in fear. The Hobart Town Courier (Tas. : 1827 - 1839) Saturday 6 September 1828 p 2 George Woolley and Thomas Simson, the two runaways who committed several robberies last week, were taken within a mile of Hobart town on Monday morning. 1830-32 Muster: Transported to Macquarie Harbour. 1833 Muster: Transported to Port Arthur. 1835 Muster: Assigned to Mr. D. O'Connor. 9/5/1836: George Woolley died at Port Arthur,
