John Wooton was transported on the Marion, departing 30th Oct 1851 and arriving 30th Jan 1852 with 281 passengers.
Built 1834 at Calcutta. Wood ship of 684 Tons. The 1847/48 voyage sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) BUT also went on to Port Phillip Bay, Victoria where 300 exiles disembarked. (The newspaper source says they were from Millbank, Pentonville & Parkhurst prisons.)

John Wotton/Wotten was 42 years old and was transported for ‘Felony’ which was for ‘Theft”. His occupation was a 'Horse Dealer'. Also on board was James Wotton/Wotten for the same crime, date, and both tried at Leicester, so could be related. John was single, 5’6” tall, grey hair, hazel eyes, sallow complexion, slender build. 1885 Police Gaz. WA. JOHN WOOTTEN, exp., late 1102, at Perth, on the 14th inst., by P.C. Howell; vagrancy. 3 months h.l. No marriage or death date found.
