Queen Victoria had decreed that all of these men (many of them youths from Parkhurst, Isle of Wight) should be treated as "free" upon arrival (significant backlash to transported criminals at this time).

Born in Birmingham to George Wort and Ann Hill. Convicted of stealing a pork pie from Joseph Corns. Cooffender John Locksmith (Marion 1847). Married Charlotte Morton (maiden name Willmett) in 1868. Sons George, Arthur, William and Alfred. Died at Hotham in 1898
