Convict Notes




He received his Ticket of Leave on the 4th May 1852 and a Conditional Pardon on the 1st August 1854. Received Permission to marry Mary Rowan (free) on the 18th January 1854 and they married on the 13th February 1854 at St Georges Church, Hobart. Charles and Mary went on to have a family of about ten children. Charles became entered the Tasmanian police force, being appointed a police constable on October 2, 1854. He was appointed a Superintendent in 1867 and eventually worked for the police force for 45 years before retiring. He died on the 24th March 1916 aged 92 years.
