In November 1832 George Wright, shoemaker and David Bruce chimney-sweeper pled guilty at Edinburgh High Court of Justiciary to stealing a horse on 3 July 1832 from Bruntsfield Links. Both received7 years transportation - see Scotman 10 November 1832 p 3 on 'High Court of Justiciary'.

1833: On arrival in VDL, George Wright was 17, single and a shoemaker (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON18-1-9$init=CON18-1-9p54). He said he had three previous convictions for theft and had served time in jail for each one - 3 months, 10 days and 3 days. 1838, 6 March: He was granted a Ticket of Leave; then he absconded and was sentenced to 6 months' hard labour in chains. 1839: George Wright received his Certificate of Freedom No.840 (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-47$init=CON31-1-47p16).
