Monday se’nnight our Assizes began, when the following Prisoners took their Trials. viz. John Wright and Philip Moreton convicted of Burglary in the Shop of Peter Hilditch of Nantwich, and of Grand Larceny in the Shop of Hannah Bromhall, Widow; Chester Courant, 17 April 1787. -------------------------------------------------- National Archives HO 47/7/7 1788 Mar 8 Report of Richard Pepper Arden on convicted prisoners, recommended to mercy on the conditions set against their names: Chester Gaol Philip Morton and John Wright, ‘Spring Assizes 1787’, for burglary. Recommendation: 14 years transportation.
