NEWSPAPER report of the trial: 20 October, 1849: From the Cambridge Independent Press, p4: "Stealing a Hat... William Wright, alias Smith (33), labourer, was charged with stealing a hat and waistcoat, the property of Joseph Dunmore, at Kimbolton." A witness, Mary Chapman, said she saw Wright "take the hat and waistcoat from the Crown Inn, on the night of the 19th of December". (https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/) --0--
