Mary WRIGHT (or MURPHY) was convicted at Tyrone on 29 Dec 1849 for Larceny - stealing clothes. Two previous convictions. 10yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Blackfriar' arriving 29 May 1851. Aged 23yrs; single; housemaid. Native Place - Co. Armagh Mary is recorded in Tasmanian Archives under the name WRIGHT however also MURPHY - no reason given, and she is recorded as a single woman. Prosecutor of this offence had the name "Wright". Brothers: Thomas, William & James (surname not given) Work services in the Colony including at Westbury, Paterson Plains, Oatlands, Launceston & Female Factory Ross. 4 June 1853: Delivered of a male child, named James Thomas, at the Female Factory Ross. 21 Nov 1854: Married Samuel Cooper at St. John's Ross, Campbell Town district (ref. 37/1/3 no. 86).
