Court and date of trial: Devon Quarter Sessions, Exeter, January 1835. Crime: Stealing two bags. Prosecutor Reverend Luther Graves Elliott, Honiton. Initial sentence: Seven years transportation. Gaoler's report: 'Bears an indifferent character'. Annotated (Outcome): Nil. Petitioner(s): Two from the prisoner. George Granville Kekewich, Defence Counsel. Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): The Chairman of the Sessions was prejudiced against the prisoner; prisoner is young, of good character and had no intention of acting dishonestly; sentence is severe. Additional Information: Prisoner was on board Ganymede prison hulk. Prisoner lived in Ottery Saint Mary.
