Margaret Wynne was transported on the Margaret, departing 30th Apr 1840 and arriving 18th Aug 1840 with 78 passengers.
Built 1829 at Chepstow. 365 tons. Female prisoners were transported to New South Wales on the 'Margaret' in 1837, 1839 and 1840. The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The 1840 sailing also carried 17 free female passengers and one male. The registers of persons is not yet complete on this web site, so please note this if researching. (A work in progress.)

Irish Convict Database, by Peter Mayberry. Margaret Wynne, age on arrival, 70, per Margaret (3) 1840, Tried 1840, Roscommon, 15 years for stealing money. DOB, 1770, native place, Sligo Co. Trade, House maid. Widow, 3 female children. Daughters Mary Wynne & sister Catherine Wynn all arrived per same ship. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Margaret Wynne, Mary Wynne, Catherine Wynne and Bridget McCurrod, (mother and three daughters,) and Pat Callely, found guilty of robbing John Casey, in Boyle, in November last, were sentenced to be transported for 15 years at Strokestown Sessions. Limerick Chronicle, 15 Jan 1840. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Daughter Bridget McCurid arrived VDL per Mary Anne 1840. Patrick Callaly arrived in NSW per Pekoe 1840.
