1837, 17 August: Russell Abbott was admitted to Kilmainham Gaol, prisoner # 688, aged 21, charged with robbery; a sentence of death was recorded on 13 July 1837 when he appeared before Mr P Fogarty Esq; 21, 5'6", brown eyes, dark hair, fair complexion; sent on board the Neptune 26 August 1837 (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924, Dublin, Kilmainham 1836-1910).

Russell could read, was protestant, single, 5'6¼" tall, brown and freckled complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, eyebrows meeting, diagonal scar over left eyebrow, scar on back of ball of left thumb. 1845: TOL, Bathurst. 9/12/1848 Bathurst Advocate: Russell Abbott, was charged with drunkenness, and forcibly entering a dwelling, the bench found him guilty, and sentenced him to seven days confinement in the cells.
