NEWSPAPER REPORTING: From the "Globe", Tuesday 22 July 1856, p4: "MIDLAND CIRCUIT.— Nottingham, July 21 Crown Court.- (Before Chief Justice Jervis) James Afflick, aged 33, a framework-knitter, pleaded guilty to a charge of maliciously attempting to strangle one James Afflick, aged about four months, with intent murder him, at Hucknall Torkard on the 28th April, 1856..." [Hucknall, formerly Hucknall Torkard, is a market town in the Ashfield district of Nottinghamshire, England. It lies 7 miles north of Nottingham.] --0-- From the "Leicester Chronicle", Saturday 26 July 1856, p1: "Nottingham Assizes commenced and terminated on Monday, when James Afflick, aged 33, a framework-knitter, pleaded Guilty to a charge of maliciously attempting to strangle one James Afflick, aged about four months, with intent to murder him, at Hucknall Torkard..."
