Isabella Allison – Ellison- Jay • Born around 1804 Tyrone Ulster Northern Ireland. One report suggests 31 December 1803. • Trade country Servant when tried at Omagh Tyrone Ireland for picking pockets 27 March 1825. Described as married with 1 child. One report that she had a child on the ship. • Cork Penitentiary waiting on convict ship to Sydney Cove NSW • Sailed Brothers Convict ship depart 3/10/1826 and arrived in Sydney 2/2/1827 aged 23 • All convict documents refer to Isabella Allison and first time Ellison appears is on Sarah’s baptism document which lists parents as John Ellison and Isabella Ellison • Daughter Sarah Ellison born 6 June 1828 and Baptised 14 August 1828 listed on baptism document. Parents listed as John Ellison and Isabella Ellison with surname twice which was unusual as other parents had surname listed once. • Census 1828 has listed Isabella Allison No21 at Government Factory Paramatta, Age 24, Convict Ship Brothers, term 7 years and religion as Protestant • Year 1827 – Ticket of Leave • Certificate of Freedom 16 April 1832 • Application to marry Isabella Allison (age 27) and Emanuel Jeyne (age 33) 9 June 1830 Disallowed • Application to marry Isabella Allison (age 29) and Emanuel Jeyne (age 36) 5 or 7 August 1833 Disallowed. On application 31 July 1833 lists Emmanuel Jeyne and Isabella Ellison and next to Isabella it has written, “on her arrival stated as married”. • Banns at Field of Mars Church (see notes below) has written on bottom Marriage not allowed and a few changes such as Ellison crossed out and replaced with Allison. Also next to not allowed has written, “on arrivals reports herself as married and has 1 child on board with her.” No date listed but has Isabella at 27 years old which was the same as the 9 June 1830 application to Marry so assume this is 1830. • Daughter Martha Jay born 3 May 1831, Baptised 30 Oct 1831 St Johns Paramatta and Buried 17 August 1834 aged 3 at St Johns Cemetery Paramatta. • Daughter Ann Ellison born 29 May 1833 and baptised 29 May 1833, mother listed as spinster Isabella Ellison of Pennant Hills. Ann Married Timothy Fullen or Fuller (1835-1878) 3 January 1854 under the surname of Jay. Appears she may have left Timmothy. Ann died 28 July 1914 at Maclean NSW. August 1885 Timothy Fuller indicted for stealing a horse and saddle, property of Andrew Paten at Paramatta. One report was that Anne Jay married James Stanton1856. A James Stanton died at Maclean 11 October 1893 aged 74-75) and buried at Maclean Cemetery Memorial ID 191024442. • Son John Ellison born 21 August 1836 and baptised 16 October 1836, father listed as John Ellison and mother as spinster Isabella Ellison of Pennant Hills. John Married Caroline Wallwork on 24 December 1859 under the surname of Jay. John died 25 October 1910 and buried at Rookwood cemetery Sydney. • Son Daniel Jay Born 20 April 1838, baptised 13 March 18??? At St Johns Paramatta. Parents Emanuel, a sawyer and Isabella. Daniel married Elen Tancred 11 June 1861 and died 5 September 1896 at Dural. • Son Emanuel Jay born 29 December 1841 at Castle Hill Sydney and died 1 February 1849 and buried at St Johns Cemetery Paramatta, listed as son of Isabella and Emanuel. • Isabella died 30 May 1880 and buried in Mclean Cemetery. Emanuel Jay died 22 May 1880. Both are buried in Plots 165 and 166 in Church of England section of Maclean cemetery.
