Andrew KITCHEN was convicted at Lancaster, England 20 Jan 1823 for stealing a watch. Second conviction (had served 9 mths in prison). 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Asia' arriving 1823. Stated he lived at Dale St. Liverpool, England. Sister at Chesire. VDL: Assignments. 1826 - in the Boat crew, hulk Duke of York. 1828 - Public Works. Out after hours. Chain Gang 3 months. 1830 - on a Ticket of Leave and working at Mawle's Whale Factory. 28 Jan 1830: Certificate of Freedom issued. 25 Feb 1830: Departure from VDL. From Hobart to Fisheries.
