IRISH PRISONErS' PETITIONS SERIES (Irish National Archives) As Thomas ANGLIN, Death sentence, respited. Letter from the trial judge dated 24 April 1810 requesting to be informed of the Lord Lieutenant's decision regarding the convict, whom he had recommended for a conditional pardon. Letter endorsed "Anglin respited the 14 April until further order."
Thomas was 27 years old on arrival in NSW. 1/1/1812: Went to VDL per 'Ruby' as a convict servant to Andrew Geils. Andrew Geils had been in charge of the guard on the ship Providence and was then sent to Tasmania as Acting Lieutenant Governor on the 'Ruby' and Thomas was one of the convicts that went with him. Thomas had a life long relationship with Ann Smith who arrived per 'Catherine' in 1814 to NSW. She was then transferred to Hobart, arriving in October 1814. 1816: Ann gave birth to Elizabeth Sarah Smith, known as Anglim. Thomas and Ann never married. Elizabeth married William Briscoe 21/3/1833. 26/6/1817: COF VDL - Thomas then employed Ann Smith as his servant in Pittwater/Sorell. 7/11/1822: Tried for stealing sheep - acquitted. 1825: Forced to sell his property in Sorell. 28/9/1827: Charged with stealing a bag (120lbs) of flour - 7 years imprisonment. Thomas was then described as: blue eyes, grey hair, 5'11 1/4" tall, red pimple under left eye, Our Saviour crucified, 7 stars and half moon inside right arm. March 1835: TOL 1835: CP 11/4/1840: Thomas died aged 67
