Louisa Atherton was transported on the Indefatigable And Minstrel, departing 9th May 1812 and arriving 19th Oct 1812 with 331 passengers.
The Indefatigable was built at Whitby, England. She was square-rigged three masted ship of 549 tons and had three decks; a length of 127 ft. and a beam of 31ft. 8ins. The Indefatigable sailed from England on 4th June 1812 in company with the Minstrel. The Indefatigable came direct to Hobart, VDL arriving there on 19 October 1812. One prisoner died on the voyage out. Having disembarked the prisoners in Hobart, the Indefatigable arrived in Port Jackson on 6 December 1812, departing there bound for England in January 1813. The Indefatigable returned to Australia with convicts in 1815 (see separate listing).

Family connections for Louisa (Atherton) are: ATHERTON Lucy/Louisa (Atherton) was born in 1795. She was tried at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived at Port Jackson NSW as a convict after 6 12 1812 after a voyage of 6months on MINSTREL accompanying INDEFATIGIBLE. She may have had a relationship with Robert (Howard his second? relationship) & produced a child. She was recorded in 1814 as 'wife' of Robert (Howard) of stores at Windsor. She was an emancipist when she died on 6 8 1820 age25 at Windsor & was buried at St Matthews CofE Windsor. [Some details taken from this Website] Robert (Howard) was born in 1767. He was tried for burglary & stealing w/1other from John (Fisher), in December 1785, October 1787 & 7th & 25th January 1778, at Buckinghamshire Assizes on 24 7 1786-according to this Website, sentenced to 7years, held at Aylesbury Gaol & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 6 1790 after a voyage of 7months on Fleet ship NEPTUNE; a voyage noted for extreme brutality of prisoners with a high death rate. He enlisted in NSW Corps as a private on 27 3 1801 in Sydney & was detached to (Rowley)s company until his discharge on 12 5 1801. He married firstly as a private with NSW Corps Ann Elizabeth (Lewis her second relationship) on 23 9 1805 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. He was Free by Servitude by 1810. He is recorded in 1814 with Lucy (Atherton) landholder off stores at Windsor. He was Free by Servitude by 1816. He is recorded in 1810s with cattle. He is recorded as landholder at Curryjong Brush in 1823. He was admitted into Sydney Benevolent Asylum on 20 11 1823. He died on 25 12 1862 age85 father of perhaps 6children. Lucy formed a relationship with Robert Howard (Convict, Neptune, 1790). This must have been around 1813-1814. In the 1814 Muster, Lucy [Ref-1818] describes herself as 'wife to Robert Howard'. Robert and Lucy had one son, Thomas, 27 December 1816.
