The Lady Castlereagh arrived at Port Jackson (Sydney) and landed 39 male convicts then continued onto VDL 11/6/1818 landing 261 male convicts. John and (brother??) James Attwood were disembarked in Sydney. 14/7/1817 Hampshire Chronicle Hampshire, England: The following prisoners stand committed for trial at the ensuing Assizes for Hampshire :James Attwood and John Attwood, for breaking and entering the dwelling-house of Wm. Morgan, at Millbrook, and stealing therefrom seven cotton gown pieces, and variety of other articles, his property. Colonial Secretary papers: ATTWOOD, James. Per "Lady Castlereagh", 1818; constable at Liverpool 1820 Jul 1,5: Re permission to marry at Liverpool (Reel 6007; 4/3502 p.115) 1821 Aug 1: Re his late delivery of Sydney Gazettes (Reel 6008; 4/3504 p.190) 1821 Aug 18: Explaining cause of delay in delivery of Sydney Gazette in Liverpool district (Reel 6051; 4/1750 pp.51-4) 1823 May 5: Re runaway convict (Reel 6010; 4/3508 p.252) 1825 May 28: Town constable at Liverpool. On return of constables in Liverpool and adjoining districts (Fiche 3302; 4/7419.1 p.14) 1820: Married Mary Ann Prendergast (Experiment II 1809). They had 5 children: 1828 Census: Attwood, Rose, 10, born in the colony Attwood, Charles, 7, born in the colony Attwood, James, 4, born in the colony Attwood, John, 3, born in the colony Attwood, Joseph, 9 months, born in the colony. No positive death date for James found - 16/8/1843 (Newspaper) Report of Insolvent Estate of James Attwood of George Street, Liverpool, labourer - placed under Sequestration. Mary Ann Prendergast died 9/11/1856, aged 65.
