Mary Ayton was baptised Anne Doyle in 1818 at Listowel Catholic Church,Killarney County Kerry. In 1843 Mary Ayton applied to marry George Durman,Wiltshire machine-breaker and married under the name Mary Eaton. The couple were childless and apparently adopted her convict sisters twin daughter Ellen Charlotte Taylor around August 1849. NSW BDM 5555/1869 records the death of Mary Eaton at Patricks Plains,Singleton area. She is buried at Whittingham Anglican Cemetery as Mary Eaton which name is a pseudo actually representing the married name Mary Dunman. The adjoining plot for partial anagram ALICE DAWSON (Ellen Charlotte Dunman) lists her two nieces-Kerry Taylor died 1854 and an older twin ,the adopted Ellen Charlotte Dunman. From the time of the four Doyle sibling convicts residency in the UK, they used a system of partial anagrams to hide their baptised names, age of birth, birthplaces, religion and parentage. That practice was followed right up to their deaths and burials between 1863-1869.. The 6 children surviving descendants all from Samuel Taylor and Ellen Doyle also MOSTLY hid their parents identity and convict heritage. However in a deliberate one-off for his beloved"only Ellen, the rose of..,she came from that place", a moment of honesty and affection, my greatgrandfather drover, Joseph Taylor at his marriage in 1875 DID NOMINATE HIS PARENTS NAMES -SAMUEL TAYLOR AND ELLEN DOYLE. They are held in the Archives at the Catholic Church,Singleton. I DO HOLD CHURCH CORRESPONDENCE TO THAT FACT.
