John Barwick was transported on the Ann Or Anne, departing 31st Jul 1809 and arriving 27th Feb 1810 with 200 passengers.

1800/1810 Journey Ship Anne, Captain James Stewart. Left Cork 26 June 1800 with 147 men and 24 women. There was a mutiny on board on the 29th July 1800, but the ship’s company overcame the insurgents. The ringleader, Marcus Sheehy, confessed his guilt, and was immediately executed on board in the presence of all the convicts. Another convict, the leader on deck, Christopher Grogan, was sentenced to 250 lashes. The ship arrived at Port Jackson, New South Wales on 21 February 1801. Family connections for John (Barwick) are: BARWICK/BERWICK John (Barwick/Berwick) son of William (Barrick) & Mary (Place) was born in 1793 at Sudbury Suffolk. He was tried for house breaking of Samuel (Clarey) of Bulmer Essex at Essex Assizes, sentenced to death reprieved to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 27 2 1810 after a voyage of 7months on ANNE; he was 5'5" fair freckled skin flaxen hair blue eyes. He was issued his Conditional Pardon no.625 on 1 1 1816. He is recorded in 1828 as labourer North Richmond with his family & as a farmer; he was also recorded in 1830 as a farmer. He died on 7 5 1858 age65 of heart disease & was buried at St Peters CofE Richmond. [Some details taken from this Website] Charlotte (Rogers) was born on 10 5 1806 & baptised on 24 8 1806 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She married John (Berwick) on 6 6 1818 at Kurrajong. She is recorded in 1828 at North Richmond with her family. She died on 11 7 1893 age87. Details of Charlotte (Rogers) family are given in entry for John (Rogers NEPTUNE 1790) on this Website. John (Barwick/Berwick) & Charlotte (Rogers) produced at least 5children: mostly girls 1.Elizabeth (Berwick) was born on 8 12 1822 & was baptised on 6 6 1824 age17m w/Mary at St Peters CofE Richmond. She is recorded in 1828 at North Richmond with her parents. She died on 7 5 1900 age77. 2.Mary (Berwick) was born on 15 11 1823 & baptised on 6 6 1824 w/Elizabeth at St Peters CofE Richmond. She is recorded in 1828 at North Richmond with her parents. 3.Charlotte (Berwick) was born on 22 11 1825 & baptised on 25 12 1825 at St Peters CofE Richmond. She is recorded in 1828 at North Richmond with her parents. She died on 4 6 1849 age23. 4.James (Berwick) was born on 21 12 1827 at North Richmond & baptised on 25 5 1828 at St Peters CofE Richmond. He is recorded in 1828 at North Richmond with his parents. He died on 16 4 1856 age28. 5.Eliza (Berwick) was born on 4 9 1829 at North Richmond & baptised on 9 5 1830 at St Peters CofE Richmond. Charlotte's parents were John Rogers (Second Fleet Convict, 1790, "Neptune") and Elizabeth Celly (Convict, 1798, "Britannia").

Bury and Norwich Post Wed 16 Mar 1808 p.2... "At Chelmsford assizes, the following prisoners received sentence of death...John Stuart and John Barwick for a burglary in the dwelling house of Samuel Clarey, of Bulmer...They were all reprieved before the Judge left town."

John was born at Sudbury, England to William Barrack and Mary Place. Description: 5'5", Flaxen hair, blue eyes, fair freckled skin. Conditional Pardon: No. 625 01/01/1816 Married Charlotte Rogers (daughter of John Rogers and Elizabeth Celey) on 6/06/1818 at Kurrajong. Died of heart disease. Buried at St. Peters cemetery, Richmond. NSW.
