William Becket was tried for having stolen 7 pounds of rags, the property of Messrs. Scovell and Co. rag merchants, Southwark. The Jury found him Guilty, and the Recorder said he was a bad fellow, who could not with safety to the community remain in a civilized country, and should go into another country for seven years. British Neptune, 14 April 1822.
