Convict Notes
Benjamin Bilner was 29 years old on arrival in VDL. He was transported for stealing malt from Henry Headitch at Woodridge. He had prior convictions: 1 month for stealing rabbits, 3 months for trespassing. Benjamin was single, 5'8 1/2" tall, dark complexion, black hair and hazel eyes. Up to 15/2/1842 he was in the Oatlands Chain gang. 8/9/1846: TOL 1848: CP 23/7/1855: COF 27/5/1859: Hobart Town Daily Mercury - Victorian News: John Larcome and Benjamin Bilner were charged with stealing 1 sheep, value 10s., the propery of Roderick O'Connor of Avoca. They were working for O'Connor as shepherds and were living in a hut on the property and were being supplied with rations from the house and had plenty of beef in the hut at the time. The were found Not Guilty, as apparently another shepherd had killed the sheep because it had broken it's leg. No marriage or death date.
