Edward Bird is buried at the Christ Church Pioneer Cemetery, Longford, Tasmania. I will post further details as I obtain them. I am descended from Charles, who came out to Australia with his sister Sarah.

For Birth Date I have given date of christening at Brigstock, Northants. He was my 3 times great grandfather. From 1835 (the year his wife died), he had twice been committed to County Gaol and twice to House of Correction. Offences included. stealing a quantity of milk from a cow, a faggot, a pole and a copper, cutting branches from oak tree and damaging a fence. I know nothing of him after his arrival in Australia but would like to. His son,John, arrived as a convict in Hobart in 1839 - 10 years for stealing a lamb.. The eldest son, William, was committed to the House of Correction for a year 1837 for theft but later emigrated to NZ. I am descended from Edward's daughter Sarah, who at the age of 18 came to South Australia as a free settler with her brother Charles in 1847.
