No; 1. Name; James Ruttleton Ship Arrived by; Mangels 1 Convicted; D Wentworth Esq. - Sydney - 20 Feb 1822 Sentence to Port Macquarie. Remainder of Original Sentence Trade; Boatman Original Sentence; Chester - 1 Sept 1819. - 14 years




On Saturday last, the following convicts were forwarded from the gaol here to the hulks, preparatory their removal to New South Wales:—Charles Clifford and John Brady, each to be transported for life ; Wm Stephenson for 14 years ; and John Butler (the dashing traveller and Andrew Kennins, each for seven years. Durham County Advertiser, 6 May 1820.




ESCAPE FROM PRISON. —During the night of Wednesday two prisoners, Charles Clifford, charged with breaking into house of John Bolton, in New Street, and John Brady, with uttering forged notes, effected their escape from the Gaol in this city. Brady, in dropping from the wall, chanced to break one his legs and this accident led to his re-capture. Durham County Advertiser, 29 January 1820. -------------------------------------------------- John Brady, aged 30, late of Merrington, labourer, charged with having feloniously offered payment certain forged and counterfeit note, purporting of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, and the value £5. knowing the same to be forged and counterfeited ; and also with feloniously having in his possession, two other forged and counterfeited notes— Guilty; Death.
