Arrived with 177 male Convicts (14 dv) Carried 30 Crew + 41 Marines Master: Duncan Sinclair She was the largest of the eleven vessels of the historic First Fleet to Australia. The First Fleet consisted of two Royal Navy escort ships, HMS Sirius and HMS Supply accompanied by six convict transports, the Alexander, Charlotte, Friendship, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales and the Scarborough, and three store ships, the Borrowdale, Fishburn and Golden Grove. Family connections for Mary (Bradshaw) are: BRADSHAW Mary (Bradshaw) was born about 1797 & became a country servant. She was tried at Dublin city Ireland, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW on 4 4 1816 after a voyage of 5months on ALEXANDER. She married James (Williams/Ryan) settler & district constable at Jerico on 28 8 1816 at St Davids CofE Hobart Town & produced 1child. She died on 27 2 1818 age about20 by drowning in accident on Derwent River, with her daughter. [Noted there were 2Mary (Bradshaw)s on Norfolk Island-the other married M (Jillett)] [Some details taken from this Website] James (Williams/Ryan) was born on 10 10 1795 on Norfolk Island. He was recorded on 1805 at Norfolk Island muster. He was baptised on 27 3 1806 age10 on Norfolk Island. He may have been adopted by Noah (Mortimor) at this time. He left Norfolk Island on 25 12 1807 with his mother as part of the first evacuation on HMS PORPOISE to Derwent Tasmania, arriving on 17 1 1808 & settled at Queens Borough/Sandy Bay. He was a settler & district constable at Jerico in 1816. He was recorded as off stores at Hobart Town on 2 10 1818. He was living with Mary (Falconer) in 1825 in a hut in Jericho district with Noah (Mortimer-said to be his adopted father-from Norfolk Island.) https://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD36-1-1p48j2k Marriage in District of Hobart Town 1816. James Williams, aged 22, free, and Mary Bradshaw, age 19, convict, per Alexander, were married 28 August by Banns. Both signed with their X.
