DIANNA CHARLES wrote: Hi I would like to claim James Britcliffe as he is my Greatgrandmothers brother. James was born at the Ross Female Factory on the 4th or 5th of March in 1849, father unknown to Mary BRITCLIFFE from the Emma Eugenia. Mary apparently absconded on July 29th 1848 (not sure how long for) and had her child James 8 months later. Apparently Mary's absconding was reported in the Hobart Gazzette in July 1848. Mary's other son Thomas died in the Female Factory in Ross. Her two surviving children were Mary Jane Greer and my Great Grandmother Eliza Greer.
