George's wife, Ann was initially assaulted by George on the 28th January 1839. Her inquest was conducted on 14th May 1839 at the Union Poor-House in Eling, Hampshire, where it suggests she died on the 12th May of that same year. George was sentenced for Manslaughter, and at the time he was already in the County Bridwell gaol serving time for another offence, a felony.
