The First Fleet consisted of two Royal Navy escort ships, HMS Sirius and HMS Supply accompanied by six convict transports, the Alexander, Charlotte, Friendship, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales and the Scarborough, and three store ships, the Borrowdale, Fishburn and Golden Grove. Mary Brown was convicted at Dublin on 18/05/1814 (crime not recorded in Conduct Book). 7yr sentence. Transported on the 'Alexander' to Sydney, arriving 04/04/1816. Transferred to Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) on the 'Kangaroo' arriving 28/04/1816. Assigned to Mr. Redman. Several misconduct of drunk & disorderly. 08/06/1827 Ticket of Leave 17/12/1868 Died, at Hobart. Inquest at Hobart 22/12/1868 - verdict, she died from the effects of burns after accidentally catching her clothes on fire at her home at Richmond. Taken to hospital Hobart on 06/12/1868 but lingered until the 17/12/1868 when she died. Official report 08/08/1869.
