1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

Thomas Smith Bruce married Mary Bridger at St Michaels Lewes Sussex England 17th September 1821. Children Thomas Bruce born Mayfield Sussex 1820, George Humphrey Smith Bruce born Mayfield Sussex 1822 and was a butcher in Rotherfield Sussex. His son William Smith Bruce was also a butcher and his son George Bruce was a farm labourer and was my grandfather.
