John Burton was about 19 years old when convicted of Pocketpicking.
John was Protestant, illiterate, single, 5’6 1/2” tall, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, red whiskers, native place; Manchester.
16/8/1837: On list of runaways apprehended during the previous week. Absconded from T. Kerr, Paterson.
11/2/1839: Tried at Parramatta (along with Daniel Stewart) for committing burglary and stealing money and clothes.
1839: Transported to Norfolk Island.
12/10/1845: Arrived in VDL per Lady Franklin.
20/2/1849: Free Certificate, Launceston.
