Levi Hani/Henry Burton was a gypsy baptised on 16/10/1799 at Yeovil in Somerset - to John Burton and Joanne Boswell. Joanne's sister Tryphena was the mother of Belcher Dicks who was convicted with Belcher. Levi had been whipped in public a few years before transportation. He was part of Burton's gang of gypsies who raided fairs and sweated horses.




Levi was worn in Somerset. 1835: TOL Goulburn 1837: TOL Goulburn 15/3/1843 Sydney Morning Herald: GAOL DELIVERY. Levi Burton and Samuel Sweeny, committed on a charge of cattle stealing from Yass, and in gaol since 6th November, were discharged by proclamation, there being no prosecution. 2/2/1852: COF 1874: NSW BDM - Levi died aged 70 at Goulburn. No marriage or children found.
