Dear Sir, I am having difficulty trying to ascertain which Patrick Byrne (convict) is my ancestor. My problem is more to do with the notes attached rather than the conviction and transportation record. I am related to Patrick Byrne born 1807 in Windsor, married Jane Upton and had 13 children and died 11th May 1868. His death certificate (NSWBD&M No 7003/1868) states his parents were Patrick Byrne and Catherine ?. Both the Hawkesbury Pioneer Register and the Pioneer Register Vol4 by CJ Smee, support the fact that a Patrick Byrne born 1771-1773 in Ireland came to Australia as a convict on the "Rolla" in 1803 and married? a Catherine Poor or Power who also was a convict and came out on the Rolla. There were two children born to this relationship, John about 1805 and Patrick about 1807. This contradicts the statement that no children could be found. Appreciate your help to solve this matter Regards Geoff

Patrick married? Eleanor Dunn, the daughter of James Dunn (Convict; Royal Admiral 1792) and Catherine Barry (Convict; Sugar Cane 1791). The marriage is shown as August 5 1816 at Windsor. However, Catherine appears to be living with him again in 1828? Patrick and Eleanor had a son James born in 1819.
